About Us

The formation of this community goes all the way back to 2005  , when Fr. George Paimpillil got installed as the priest in charge at Utrecht. We started having adhoc masses at his church with the known community, with the sole purpose to praise, connect and bring a sense of community. Over the years, the community grew and spread out over different regions in Amsterdam-Amstelveen-Almere-Utrecht-Hilversum.

In 2011 , driven by a profound desire to nurture our faith and sustain our sense of community, the St. Thomas Christians community started organizing Malayalam Holy Qurbana in different churches and in different rites, with the help of priests from Kerala working all over the Netherlands , especially Fr. Mervin John Varayankunel and sometimes with priests and Bishops visiting us from India and from different countries in Europe.

Since 2018 , we started organizing the regular Holy Qurbana in a rental church in Amstelveen. Over the period of time, our community has grown and today , we proudly continue to conduct regular Holy Qurbana services in Amstelveen and Utrecht, with regular priests leading the community, providing a spiritual anchor for our members . We celebrate Easter, Christmas and Perunnal (St Thomas feast) together while having separate Holy Qurbana in different regions & different rites.

With our growing community, we realize the limitations of continuing our regular services at Amstelveen. With the expectation of welcoming more members in the coming years, we foresee the need for finding a bigger church that is also more accessible by public transport, we have taken the decision to move our regular 3rd Sunday and Perunnal masses to St.Vituskerk in Hilversum from 2024 .

Our community is dedicated to the holistic development of all its members, with a particular emphasis on nurturing the younger generation. Through our catechism and faith formation programs, we ensure that our children receive a robust foundation in their faith. Furthermore, we offer abundant opportunities for their personal growth through engaging Church activities and culturally enriching programs
